Works on Paper

Having had my first formal art training with oils, then with acrylics and even house paint, I was used to applying the mediums on thick and always very saturated. When I decided to work with watercolor,  I found it to be a challenging experience at first. Gradually learning to start with light washes and witness the forms come alive on the paper was exhilarating.

Experimenting with different papers and the addition of gesso, acrylic, oil crayon, pencil and charcoal with the watercolor added a whole new level of investigation and texture. There are no rules when it comes to exploration and freedom of technique.

The imagery all stems from a personal experience or is rooted back to nature creating a modern still life. What I love about Abstract Expressionism is that what I see and feel in a painting so clearly, can bring out the creativity in the viewers who may perceive something completely different. Imagination is a beautiful thing.
