There is an excitement in creating works of art out of natural elements and everyday found objects.  Producing these Assemblages or Constructions by combining these things with paint is intoxicating and has been ingrained in my soul. The phrase “one person’s junk is another one’s treasure” could not be more true.

I get such a feeling of euphoria when I happen upon rusted pieces I might find in the street, or broken objects and so many forms of nature.  The patterns and textures on animals and the colors of salt water fish have always been an inspiration. There are so many new things to find and explore with every new piece.  The discovery process can be overwhelming and elating at the same time. The possibilities are as vast as the ocean.

Some of the works are built into corners of rooms because I felt these areas have been under utilized.  The smaller works, I like to call “brooches” because they can draw you in  for a closer look  to decipher and absorb what is going on, but then they can jump out and bite you!
